KTM has officially unveiled its latest additions to the 2025 supermoto lineup: the KTM 125 SMC R and KTM 390 SMC R. These compact yet powerful machines are designed to bring the exhilaration of supermoto riding to a broader audience. Combining accessibility with performance, these models boast cutting-edge technology, rider-friendly features, and KTM’s unmistakable “Ready to Race” DNA.
Both the KTM 125 SMC R and 390 SMC R showcase a sleek, compact design. Featuring a lightweight 9-litre metal fuel tank and slimline fairings, these machines offer improved ergonomics whether you're standing on the pegs or cornering aggressively. The resilient in-mold graphics reflect KTM’s off-road heritage while ensuring durability.
Riders are carried on 17-inch wheels wrapped with grippy tires ensuring optimal performance both on and off road. The 390 SMC R is equipped with spoked wheels and Michelin Power 6 tires, while the 125 SMC R features cast wheels. Braking power is robust, thanks to 320mm radial brakes at the front and 240mm single-piston brakes at the rear.
The 2025 models benefit from a new steel trellis frame and bolt-on subframe inspired by KTM’s Gen 3 platform. Specifically engineered for supermoto riding, the frame offers improved handling, stability, and control. The redesigned footpeg location and radiator package provide better clearance for more aggressive riders.
Suspension duties are handled by WP APEX components. Both models feature 43mm open cartridge front forks with 230mm of travel. The 390 SMC R boasts compression and rebound adjustability in convenient 30-click increments, while the 125 SMC R offers a non-adjustable setup. Rear shocks also deliver 230mm of travel, with the 390 SMC R featuring adjustable rebound and preload options.
The KTM 125 SMC R and 390 SMC R are both powered by KTM’s new-generation LC4c single-cylinder engines. Lightweight and compact, these Euro 5+ compliant powerplants feature optimised cylinder heads, refined gearboxes, and extended service intervals. Riders can expect their first service at around 600 miles and subsequent intervals every 6,000 miles. Enhanced thermal monitoring, improved fuel injection, and a newly designed airbox contribute to better efficiency and emissions control.
A standout feature is the stainless-steel exhaust system, which eliminates the need for an end muffler, reducing weight by 2 kg. Equipped with a double-catalyser and active control systems, the exhaust ensures optimal performance while meeting strict new emissions standards.
These new SMR models bring a host of new design features including new suspension, die-cast swingarm and the new generation of lightweight and compact engines. Add in new tech and these bikes are a great package for riders looking for a thrilling machine with a bit of aggression matched in both looks and performance.Garry Poynter, Triple D Team Bike Sales
KTM has packed the 2025 SMC R lineup with advanced tech. The 390 SMC R offers selectable ride modes, including Street, Sport, and Supermoto ABS settings, giving riders more control. A new memory feature retains the selected mode after the bike is powered off. Both models are equipped with dual-channel ABS for added safety.
A new 4.2-inch TFT dashboard display provides clear, glare-resistant views of essential data, such as speed, fuel levels, and gear indicators. Riders can also enjoy connectivity features like music control, call management, and turn-by-turn navigation through the KTM Connect App, all accessible via illuminated switch cubes.
For riders who love to add a personalised touch to their bikes, KTM has updated the range of PowerParts to enhance performance, style, and functionality for these new models. These upgrades allow riders to tailor their SMC R to their preferences with slick looking CNC machined parts or extra gear to enhance your ride.
